Email conference@vaae.org The Children's Music Network and Lesley University's Division of Creative Arts in Learning Present The conference, now in its second year at Lesley, is open to anyone who enjoys making music with children, including musicians, songwriters, teachers and child care professionals, students and parents. Noted children's musician and songwriter Ruth Pelham will offer this year's keynote. Workshops will explore the relationship of music to literacy, healing and movement, among other topics. The day will end with a special Children's Music Network tradition, the Round Robin, in which each attendee will have a chance to share a children's song or musical activity. Recording devices are welcome, and attendees are also encouraged to bring any musical instruments they might play. To register, contact Tina Stone. Questions? Contact Sammie Haynes at 207-384-3234. The League for the Advancement of New England Storytelling Presents This conference includes a keynote by Bill Harley (Two-time Grammy Award Winner), a panel discussion (STORYTELLING: THE FOUNDATION FOR THE ARTS), 35+ workshops and more. CEU & PDPs Available Kitsi Watterson Presents In this workshop, we will tap into that "nowhere" place, that deep inner wellspring of creativity that resides within all. By using meditation, guided visualization, music, and a mindful practice of breathing, we will work to be in the moment and to write out of that moment. Whether writers are composing short stories, essays, novels or books of creative nonfiction, they will find fresh ways of looking at, seeing, and opening up to their characters and their subjects. The weekend schedule will include a Friday night gathering, writing workshops both Saturday and Sunday mornings, and afternoon and evenings improvised as a group with readings, music, dance, drumming, or, possibly, more writing. Class size limited to 10. Contact Kitsi Watterson. NECAP Presents Save the date for this 9th Annual Widening the Circle Conference. More details to come. Susan Danoff and Teresa Whitaker Present In our thirteenth annual storytelling retreat we wish to create a magical space for several days where we can be with other women who also care about the powerful and elusive issues that are part of our work as storytellers. We will experiment with song, movement, writing, meditation, ritual, nature, and improvisation, to deepen our story work. Our evenings will be devoted to informal sharing of stories and song. Participants must have previous experience with storytelling but need not be professional storytellers. |
